1. Flow Simulation (CFD) and Shape Optimization of an Airfoil Design and Compare with Wind Tunnel Experiment Result
The Aerospace industry is increasingly relying on advanced numerical flow simulation tools for analyzing all the components of aircraft. The main part which helps in producing lift is wings. So, the shape of the aerofoil should be designed in such a manner so that maximum lift can be achieved. In this project, you are going to work on a standard NACA airfoil and analyze it using finite element volume tool AcuSolve. Then you have to validate your numerical result with the wind tunnel experiment result.
2. MATLAB Simulation of Heavy Duty Diesel Engine
As the increasing demand for Heavy Duty Diesel Engine is increasing in transportation we will require a good emission control in heavy duty diesel vehicles and in the future installation of OBD in HDD vehicles will be necessary this simulation will help to increase the effective working of the emission control systems for better results and low emission standards. The objective of this project will be to create a simulation model of the diesel engine with emissions to test under European test cycles.
3. Flow Simulation (CFD) and Wind tunnel Experiment of Cricket ball
The aerodynamic properties of a cricket ball can greatly be affected by the prominence of the seam, the surface roughness of the ball in play, and the launch attitude of the ball by the bowler. Based on seam angle and surface roughness of the ball, an asymmetric airflow over the ball due to pressure difference can be generated thereby deviating the flight from the intended path. This potential flight deviation is called swing. Therefore, it is extremely important to understand the aerodynamic properties of used cricket balls as wear and tear can have a major effect on the swing. The primary objectives of this work were to understand the aerodynamic properties of a series of used cricket balls, thus the mechanism of swing as well as the drag of a cricket ball.
4. Buckling Load Analysis of Sigmoid Functionally Graded Timoshenko Beam on Pasternak Elastic Foundation
The development of many technologies that make our existence so comfortable has been intimately associated with the accessibility of suitable materials. In fact, early civilizations have been designated by the level of their materials development (Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age). Thus, tens of thousands of different materials have evolved with rather specialized characteristics of materials. Many of our modern technologies require materials with unusual combinations of properties that cannot be met by the conventional metal alloys, Ceramics & Polymeric materials. In this project, you will get to know about a Functionally Graded Composite material which kind of solve the above problems. You will analyze this material using the Finite Element Method by modelling it using MATLAB.
5. A Numerical Solution to Two-Dimensional Variable Conductivity Heat Transfer
There are mainly three different ways of heat transfer, Heat transfer by conduction, convection, and radiation. Conductive heat transfer is the basic mode of heat transfer, and it is comparatively easy to understand. In this project, you are going to solve a 2D conductive heat transfer problem involving variable conductivity. You will use numerical methods to solve this problem.
