The Internal Combustion Engine converts chemical energy into useful mechanical energy by burning fuel. Chemical energy is released when the fuel-air mixture is ignited by the spark in the combustion chamber.The ignition of spark occurs in different ways in different kinds of Internal Combustion Engines. The piston is driven by the energy produced which in turn drives the mechanism to which it is attached to thereby performing the objective.

This workshop on IC Engine gives the participants an opportunity to understand IC Engines through hands-on experience giving them an insight into the multi-disciplinary content of the subject.  The participants are exposed to the history and development of IC Engines and are given a chance to disassemble the entire IC Engine assembly into individual parts. Later they are made to understand the importance of each and every part with the help of an interactive lecture session followed by the re-assembly of the engine. This workshop makes the participants appreciate the increasing number of opportunities in the automobile industry and will prove very useful for people willing to take up a career in the propulsion/ automobile sector.

Workshop Specialities

Each team will be provided with an IC Engine and will be made to disassemble and assemble the entire engine

Workshop Structure

The workshop has the following modules.

1. Lecture: The participants would be introduced to the theory and organization of the IC Engines.
2. Disassembly: The teams individually disassemble the entire engine into individual parts.
3. Understanding of the Engine: There will be a lecture explaining the importance of each and every part of the engine after the disassembly
4. Assembly of the Engine: The teams will reassemble the engine back into the original shape
